Is Telehealth Right for You?
Why I Use Telehealth to Provide Therapy
Face-to-face communication is critical for successful psychotherapy. Until a few years ago I held all my therapy sessions in person. However, during the COVID pandemic I found that using telehealth is an efficient and affordable vehicle for treatment for both patients and me. It is now the only way I provide therapy. Here’s why:
Comfort
Telehealth therapy happens in the place where you’re most comfortable instead of an unfamiliar room.
Cost
The cost to attend your session is already built into your monthly Internet or wireless fees. No gas to buy or parking fees to pay.
Convenience
Telehealth eliminates the need to travel to and from appointments. Therapy sessions can now fit into even the tightest schedule.
Access
Avoid sitting in traffic and looking for parking. With telehealth, all you need is a connected device, a camera and a private location to attend your session.
Therapy Wherever You Are
If you live in an area where not many psychologists are available, you can attend telehealth sessions regardless of where you reside in the state of California.
Therapy That Moves With You
When moving elsewhere in California, you won’t need to find another therapist. Now, your therapy can continue uninterrupted in your new home.
Still Unsure?
I encourage you to try telehealth out for a few sessions. I screen all patients for treatment using telehealth via review of your intake form, your history, and what symptoms and stressors you would like to address. After a few sessions, we can assess whether telehealth is comfortable and appropriate for you. If not, I would be happy to refer you to colleagues in my network.
